Simple summer weddings

Summer is a wonderful time to get married and celebrate the union of two individuals. There are a wide variety of flowers readily available which are in season.

Try simplifying your decor by having only a few different types of flowers and one or two color choices. A mix of low centerpieces and high centerpieces will add drama to a reception venue with tall ceilings. I love using different containers for the centerpieces, so they all have their own personality.

At this wedding (held at Wood Acres Farm in Terryville, Connecticut) we utilized some lovely wooden boxes, lined them with moss and they were overflowing with summery flowers. I simply added a little additional detail by roses in votive cups surrounding the main centerpiece.

Choose a unique venue for your reception and you are sure to have a wonderful experience. Try an empty barn, loft area overlooking the city or an open field with a tent. Add jar luminaries around the outside of the venue (be sure and check with the venue for permission) for a lovely glow during a summer evening. You can purchase citronella votive candles help keep the bugs away and glow into the night.
