Deserving couple wedding update

So, we met with 4 different couples over the last few weeks.  If you are one of those extremely lucky couples, you should know you were chosen from over 100 entries.  So many passionate stories and touching situations.  I appreciate the time the couples took to spend with us and making the trip out to meet with us!  It's so nice to see loving couples and ones that truly deserve to win this contest.

Over the years, we've become well known in the wedding industry.  We've had our work featured in numerous wedding magazines and on wonderful blogs such as Style Me Pretty and Wedding Chicks.  I feel so honored and just plain lucky to have been given so many incredible opportunities at such a young age that this was a little way to give back.  Of course, we absolutely LOVE what we do so it's really fun as well!

Here are the INCREDIBLE group of wedding professionals who have graciously offered up their services and/or products for these amazing couple!

Real wedding at New Haven Lawn Club

Lauren and Jim's wedding took place on January 16, 2010 in New Haven, Connecticut.  With their reception held at the New Haven Lawn Club.  Centerpieces consisting of deep vibrant purple hydrangea, olives, lavender roses and 'creme de la creme' roses, seeded eucalyptus and lemon leaf.  Some in chocolate footed urns with two handles and taller centerpieces in a slender glass vase.  I found the containers for her centerpieces from R&S Baskets in Massachusetts.  We added a ton of candles around every centerpiece.

The bride stopped at Ikea the week of the wedding and picked up a ton of pillar candles (various sizes) and made a dramatic pop to the fireplace in the dining room.  The bride's family is from Texas and mom helped her plan from there.  The bride and groom handmade truffles for their wedding favors.  She had an Aunt who hand painted a "family tree" for their sign-in guest book, which they will now frame and put up in their home.  It was just gorgeous!!  I found this to be so very unique and different!

Guilford Yacht Club wedding

This wonderful autumn inspired wedding was held in October at First Church in Old Saybook, Connecticut, with their reception following at the Guilford Yacht Club.  Sixpence For Your Shoe coordinated the entire event from conception to fruition.   They designed the couple's custom invitations and menu cards.  Dark chocolate pintuck linens dressed up each table setting and there were tall and low centerpieces.  Curly "trees" were decked out with hanging luminaries, milva and black magic roses along with cinnamon color cymbidium orchids.  Around the base of the tree centerpieces we added lady gala apples (which we picked up at a local orchard- Belltown Hill Orchards) and moss for interest.  Hand-tied bouquets consisted of milva and black magic roses, rose hips, seeded eucalyptus and millet.  Then wrapped with a dark chocolate/bronze ribbon and vintage rhinestone buttons for added detail.  Boutonnieres were all different.

Winter wonderland wedding

Our photo shoot wedding is this weekend.  It's being photographed with Style Me Pretty blog in mind.  This wedding is being held at the Society Room in Hartford, Connecticut.  Sixpence has helped coordinate all aspects of the wedding and created one of a kind stationery.

Scott is creating a custom, rustic wooden base for our incredibly over the top escort card "tree" which will be created out of Manzanita branches.  Crystals will be draping from this amazing creation and covered in white orchids and open garden roses.  It's sure to be a show stopper piece!  I will be adding detail around the base of the tree with ivory button mums gathered closely together.

Centerpieces are a combination of high and low pieces.  Which, in my opinion is nice to mix up interest in a room.  I love candle light, so we've added a ton of candles for added ambiance.  Love will be in the air and snow will be covering the ground (it looks like) for our winter wonderland themed wedding!

You'll just have to wait and see what we create when the wedding gets featured on Style Me Pretty in the next few weeks!

Deserving couple wedding update

We have had over 100 entries for our deserving couple 2011 wedding contest!  I've been sifting through them, reading all the heart-filled emotional stories about hardship and giving back.  It's really touched me.  We've scheduled meetings with some of you and look forward to meeting in person!  Thanks to all that have applied and thanks to Style Me Pretty blog for announcing the contest!

I'm looking forward to designing not one, but two deserving couple's weddings in 2011.

On other notes, I've been tweaking my book proposal and submitting it to publishers.  Looking forward to seeing it to fruition.  This process has been a roller coaster ride but, so well worth it!  Look for my book soon in book stores for inspiration ideas from real weddings.

All the best,
Jessica

Big things coming!

Look for Jessica's Country Flowers on national TV soon! We were asked to design a table setting and talk about trends in 2010 for weddings... awesome!
This is a wedding we did at a private estate last July.  Which featured a canopy covered with many stems of green hydrangea and about 250 "hot lady" roses and "milva" roses.

Congratulation notes going out!

I'm sending out Congratultation notes to some of the lucky brides being considered for our 2011 deserving wedding!  Keep your eyes peeled to your mailbox to see if you are one of the lucky ones!

So many amazing, heart-filled stories from really lovely brides.  Some of my favorites are a bride's sister who wrote about her sister and a couple struggling to make ends meet, going to college, working full time and giving back to others.

Here is the amazing group of wedding professionals who will be donating their services/products to Two (yes, I said Two!) lucky couples!
